Build it and they will come! This workshop we will look into how our local riding spots get built and what it takes to keep them up and running. We will also have a guest come in and give us a bit of background on what it takes to build riding facilities.
If we use local dirt jumps as an example, think about how they got there in the first place. Here are some points to get you started:
- Who’s had the idea?
- Who owns the land it sits on?
- Who built it?
- Did they need permits – what are permits?
- Who decides what it looks like?
- What kind of machinery is needed?
These are just some of the aspects that go into creating and building riding infrastructure (parks, trails, bike paths). Try and see if you can do some research and come up with some others!
